V3 Ingredients – A Comprehensive Breakdown
Below is a list of V3 ingredients consisting of two parts – the regular ingredients and also the components which make up V3's "proprietary blend" portion of the formula. The ingredients are listed in the order in which they appear on the label and describe what benefits each one provides in terms of weight loss, energy and mood.* Most of the ingredients possess additional benefits not listed, however, the focus was kept narrow to remain on topic and avoid confusion. Also listed are common side effects and safety concerns for each ingredient should there be any.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine)
The water-soluble B vitamins in general are helpful in converting carbohydrates into fuel for energy. They also help the body metabolize fats and protein. B6 influences mood by helping the body to produce the hormones serotonin, norepinephrine, melatonin, and gamma-aminobutric acid (GABA) (GABA – helps transmit nerve signals). Also, pyridoxine may play a role in helping prevent the degeneration of cognitive functions in the elderly. There aren't many cases of significant deficiencies of Vitamin B6, however, many elderly and children can have mild deficiencies. *
Side Effects and Concerns • Safe up to 200mg/day for adults. Larger doses may show neurological symptoms such as tingling and numbness.
B12 occurs naturally in dairy and eggs. Often called the “feel good” vitamin, it stimulates the thyroid to increase metabolism. B12 is important in maintaining a healthy myelin sheath – the insulating cover over nerve cells. Lower than recommended levels of B12 can cause fatigue or depression. *
Side Effects and Concerns • Normally safe. Too much can cause diarrhea, or skin rashes which are temporary. Large doses have been known to cause anxiety and/or panic attacks. Occurrences are usually with administration by injection.
Calcium (Aquamin F)
Calcium is well known for bone health but is also very valuable in helping maintain weight. Aquamine is a calcium and magnesium rich seaweed derivative. The body associates calcium levels with calorie consumption and will trigger a metabolism slowdown if inadequate levels are detected. Fat is stored in this mode. With an abundance of calcium the body gets the “well-nourished” signal and fat is burned. The combination of calcium and magnesium has shown to be very effective in reducing cravings. *
Side Effects and Concerns • Possible gas, belching, and constipation.
Magnesium (Aquamin F, Carbonate)
Magnesium is responsible for the the stable production of insulin which controls our blood sugar levels which in turn determines how much fat is stored for energy. Cortisol, the hormone produced in the adrenal gland, is known to cause weight issues by being responsible for the storage of fat around the abdominal area, especially in people with stress. Magnesium helps to counter the effects of cortisol. *
Side Effects and Concerns • Very safe – possibly stomach upset or diarrhea in rare cases – concerns arise in cases of a deficiency.
Zinc gluconate (zinc salt of gluconic acid) is an essential mineral which is needed for a healthy immune system. Zinc plays a key role in the development of some white blood cells called T-lymphocytes which fight infection. Many factors can bring about a zinc deficiency including weight loss, loss of appetite, and inadequate caloric intake. *
Side Effects and Concerns • Gastrointestinal (dosage issue), dry mouth, unpleasant taste.
Chromium is an essential trace element which assists in the production of insulin, helping the absorbtion of glucose into cells. The polynicotinate form is more widely used because of better absorbtion compared to other forms. Also, it has been said that chromium helps in the metabolizing of carbs and fats. *
Side effects and Concerns • Some people have reported diarrhea, insomnia, and dizziness.
Caffeine promotes thermogenesis (increases metabolism) to help speed up the expending of calories. This allows for increased energy levels and has been shown to help increase the use of fat by the body during exercise. Caffeine derived from natural sources such as that used in V3 contains antioxidant properties unlike the synthetic caffeine used in many diet products on the market. Caffeine also possesses appetite-suppressing properties. *
Side Effects and Concerns • Can cause palpitations, nervous or jittery feelings in doses that are too high. Concerns by some researchers of the possibility of spiking blood sugar in some people.
Proprietary V3 Blend
B-Phenylethylamine HCL (PEA), Dark Cocoa Powder, 1,3 Dimethylamylamine, Green Tea, Choline Bitartrate, Alpha Keto Glutaric Acid, Cinnamon, 5HTP, Vanadium Sulfate, Chocomine, Silica
B-Phenylethylamine HCL (PEA)
Beta-Phenylethylamine Hydrochloride or PEA, is a natural chemical found in foods such as chocolate. This chemical produces a mild amphetamine-like effect due to its causing the release of dopamine in the brain. The result is a positive effect on mood plus increased focus. *
Side Effects and Concerns • May cause nausea, sleep problems, constipation. DO NOT take while on a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor.(MAOI).
Dark Cocoa Powder
Dark Cocoa from the cocoa bean contains polyphenols, naturally occuring antioxidants from plants which have been shown to interfere with digestive enzymes, inhibiting the metabolization of fats. *
Side Effects and Concerns • Safe. In large amounts may cause nervousness, insomnia, or increased heart rate due to the caffeine content. May cause minor gastrointestinal problems for some.
1,3 Dimethylamylamine or DMAA is a chemical originally used as a nasal decongestant because of it's vasoconstrictive properties. Today it is used in the weight loss and bodybuilding industry as a stimulant. DMAA combined with caffeine results in a powerful metabolism booster responsible for increasing the body's ability to burn calories at a faster rate. *
Side effects and Concerns • Because of it's stimulant properties, one should check with his/her health care provider if high blood pressure is an issue. Also, as a vasoconstrictor, DMAA could worsen some types of glaucoma.
Flavenoid abundant green tea is made from the plant Camellia sinensis. Green tea has been shown to have thermogenic properties by slightly raising metabolism without increasing heart rate. *
Side effects and Concerns • Because green tea does contain caffeine, large amounts can cause anxiety, irregular heartbeat, or increased blood pressure.
Choline plays a role in the transportation of fat and cholesterol from the liver to areas of the body that need it. It is also believed that choline is responsible for helping to control mood swings. To create a supplemental form, choline is combined with the salt bitartrate. *
Side effects and Concerns • May cause diarrhea. People with Parkinson's disease or bipolar disorder should not take supplements containing choline.
Alpha Keto Glutaric Acid
The main function of alpha keto glutaric acid (AKG) is the detoxification of ammonia from the central nervous system which can result from over-ingestion of proteins. Toxic buildup of ammonia in the brain can cause migraines, confusion, irritability, and fatigue. *
Side effects and Concerns • No reported side effects.
Cinnamon contains a polyphenol called MHCP. MHCP mimicks insulin helping to decrease blood glucose levels and insulin resistance which in turn can help with the ability to lose weight. *
Side effects and Concerns • Affects blood sugar. Diabetics should consult with their health care provider before taking cinnamon. Also, because of it's anti-clotting properties, cinnamon should not be taken by people on blood thinners.
5-Hydroxytryptophan is a naturally occurring amino acid which is a precursor to serotonin. Serotonin aids in sleep, depression, and helps suppress appetite. *
Side effects and Concerns • Should not be taken with MAOIs or SSRIs.
Vanadium is a mineral that acts like insulin to help regulate blood sugar levels. Vanadium sulfate is a salt form which is more readily absorbed by the body. Research shows vanadium sulfate to aid in protein synthesis delivering more protein and amino acids to muscle tissue. *
Side effects and Concerns • In large doses may cause gastrointestinal discomfort – nausea, diarrhea, gas.
Chocomine is a cocoa extract resulting in numerous components including methylxanthines, biogenic amines, amino acids, and various minerals. This combination exhibits multiple properties acting as a stimulant, appetite suppressant, and antidepressant. Studies show Chocomine to have cognitive benefits supporting mental focus. *
Side effects and Concerns • Contains caffeine which in larger quantities can cause nervousness, anxiety, or irregular heartbeats.
Although boasting numerous health benefits from nutritional supplementation to detoxification, silica, in our application here is it's ability to facilitate the absorption of other minerals. *
Side effects and Concerns • No known safety issues.
